Pork Tenderloin Souvlaki

PC Blue Menu Pork Tenderloin SouvlakiSounds delicious, right? Right! Well, we don’t always have the time or energy to make everything from scratch, so sometimes we cheat on our marinades and buy pre-marinated meat. We found these PC Blue Menu Pork Tenderloin Souvlaki kebabs at Superstore a while ago and as it turns out, they’re really good! When we first started buying them, we made all four kebabs for the two of us but we found that with veggies and a starch, one kebab is really all we need. We love that they’re 60 calories each (for those of you who don’t keep track of calories and stuff, that’s a good thing!) and they’re still FULL of delicious flavours!

I hear you asking how we serve them…

Well, since I’m not the BBQ master, Paul throws them on the bbq for 5-6 minutes, or “til it’s cooked!” – in his words!

We’ve used them in a few different ways. They’re obviously Greek so the first time, we had some Greek salad and pita break with them. GREAT for a light but delicious treat, especially in the summer! We’ve also had them with rice or potatoes and some sautéed veggies which is a bit of a more ‘warm and comforting’ dish, which is nice what with our sub-zero temperatures up here in the Arctic. One of my favorite ways to have them, though, is to BBQ them up, pull them off the stick and put them on a little pita with some homemade tzatziki sauce and fresh tomatoes on top. (I say home-made because you can ALWAYS make it with less fat at home than you can when you buy it at the store. See the incredibly easy recipe here.) With the pita wrap, I like to have either a little salad or some rice on the side; whatever tickles your fancy!

So, next time you need something delicious but quick and easy, stay away from the drive-thru and pick up some of these (I forgot to mention, they freeze pretty well too). Your butt will thank you!
